Description
In partnership with the Market President Network, line of business leaders, corporate executives and internal stakeholder groups, leads community relations in select Northeast markets that deliver business returns to Capital One including CRA, business development, and corporate reputation.
Responsibilities:
Grant Making
- Research market-level data to drive responsive planning, collaborative decision making and the selection of signature partnerships that will deliver maximum ROI for the company and community
- Assist with grant decision making with the Market President Network, corporate and local foundation portfolios of philanthropic investments
- Serve as the lead grant administrator and day-to-day grantee relationship manager for local partnerships that deliver on and maximize CRA value, reputation, and business development opportunities
- Track and evaluate grantee performance, outcomes and return on philanthropic investments
Corporate Volunteerism
- Establish and/or facilitate market-level, associate-led Community Corps Councils that advance and manage individual and team volunteerism including enterprise-wide events and national programs touching down in local markets
- Develop and implement associate engagement plans with prioritized local grantees
- Source pro bono service opportunities and monitor pro bono associate engagement, outputs and outcomes
- Manage market-level retail CRA volunteer program in partnership with retail leadership (i.e. District Managers)
- Assist in facilitating the board leadership program in select markets including training and development, matching services, and tracking
- Provide and/or leverage onsite volunteer management support where necessary to ensure high quality associate volunteer experiences and drive volunteer retention
- Promote associate engagement volunteer tracking and partner with the Community Affairs team regarding volunteer data reporting
- Manage the development and implementation of market-level volunteer recognition plans
Financial Education
- Coordinate the logistics of local financial education programming with market-level grantee partners including program curriculum and volunteer recruitment and training
- Our prioritized life cycle financial education programming reaches students in grades K-12 and adults through in-branch and site-based delivery models (i.e. affordable housing sites)
- We advance resource referrals to support associates and community partners interested in advancing programming outside of our prioritized life cycle model.
Communications
- Advance the Investing for Good community brand locally with grantee partners
- Serve as a resource for Community Affairs communicator to support coverage of market-level community relations internally and externally
Stakeholder Relations
- Collaborate with internal stakeholder groups to achieve goals including the Market President Network, Community Development Banking/Finance, Government Relations, Corporate Communications, Human Resources, and Brand/Marketing.
- Identify and sustain mutually productive relationships with key community leaders and connect internal executives when appropriate.
- Represent Capital One in the community through networking, public speaking, and event attendance.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree
- Minimum 3-5 years experience in community relations, grant making or complementary field
Preferred Qualifications:
- BA, preferably in business, public relations, or communications
- Strong partnership building and relationship management skills
- Demonstrated experience in achieving win-win, measurable outcomes through corporate-community partnerships
- Ability to make connections between projects and initiatives while advancing innovation that differentiates our outcomes
- Very strong verbal and written presentation skills; strong influencing skills
- Able to articulate ROI of corporate social responsibility programming
- Experience creating persuasive PowerPoint presentations; able to write succinctly and descriptively
- Demonstrated ability to collect and utilize data to drive decisions
- Strong networking skills. Easily builds / maintains relationships with stakeholders at all levels; comfortably and strategically leverages relationships
- Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize and multitask. Experience managing large scale events and activities with multiple partners
- Skills in leading teams and committees to achieve local goals. Ability to design and implement effective work plans and to delegate to and motivate volunteers
- Strong EQ skills. Ability to influence and comfortably interact with senior executives, community leaders, associates, and client groups across the company
- Working knowledge of Community Reinvestment Act
