Job Description:
Responsible for the oversight and management in all construction projects within the school or hospital. Supervises and manages all Facilities Project Managers in the planning, implementation and allocation of resources and activities of capital construction projects to ensure project completion within timelines, contract specifications and budget. Oversees the design, construction and renovation of all construction projects throughout the school or hospital. Makes recommendations to Director of Facilities on items including annual operating and capital budgets and staffing, etc.Controls operating costs with particular emphasis on costs of payroll and outside services through monitoring of department expenditures. Oversees and monitors financial operations of all projects, tracks expenditures and performs analyses in relation to special projects. Prepares construction status reports for presentation to senior management including updated construction schedules. Fills in for Director of Facilities in his/her absence and carries out overall responsibility for all department functions according to directives. Works closely with outside vendors and consultants in relation to capital projects implementation and purchasing matters. Prepares and analyzes contract documents. Recruits, trains and evaluates performance of assigned staff. Recommends and or performs disciplinary actions of assigned staff as required. Evaluates, identifies and implements new ideas, technologies or process improvements to increase organizational efficiencies and cost savings. Monitors construction of work and project timelines ensuring that work conforms to design and operational standards and requirements. Resolves large issues that may be uncovered in the duration of projects. Monitors and implements the Mount Sinai Medical Center's quality control program. Ensures compliance with all institutional, local and federal regulations. Performs other design and construction-related duties.

Job Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Architecture or Engineering, Masters Degree preferred.
10 years professional experience as an Architect, Engineer or Construction Manager, including 3 years experience as Project Manager, preferred. Engineering or Architecture license preferred
ASHE Construction Certifications preferred. OSHA 30 Certification, LEED AP, PMP highly desired
Knowledge of building structures, infrastructure systems, and general knowledge of patient care centers. Knowledge of federal, state and local building laws.
Understand the basic business practices of the design and construction management process.
Proven ability to guide outside design consultants and construction management teams
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong communication and organizational skills.
Experience in NYC DOB and BEST Squad
Must present well; whether it be Up, down, or within a Peer environment
Must be proactive with the ability to recognize potential project impediments
Strong analytical and leadership skills
Must have the ability to work within a diverse team as well as independently as required
Demonstrates time management skills, resulting in the ability to manage multiple client relationships and prioritize time and resources accordingly
