THIS IS A PAID POSITION!
The Graphic Designer (freelance opportunity) will be responsible for all aspects of graphic design for print and web projects produced by the development and communications department, from design concept to pre-press work. Assignments include a bi-monthly newsletter, brochures, fact sheets, annual report, special event logos, promotional items, invitations, cards, training presentations and web pages. He or she will also:
* Oversee all hardware related to the Mac, including vendor maintenance of a color printer, purchase/update software as needed and order printing supplies on a timely basis, and organize and maintain files on the Mac.
* Interface with printers and other vendors, soliciting bids, evaluating proofs/color separations/page proofs, and sourcing new vendors.
* Design graphics and work with web master to prepare files for placement on our website.
* Assist with other projects as requested.
Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
College degree preferred with a concentration in graphic design and at least one year of professional experience, or three years professional graphic design experience, including pre-press work. Proficiency in Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign is required, as is a strong portfolio exhibiting a variety of work that shows excellent use of color, type and overall design aesthetics. Experience creating PowerPoint presentations is desired.
The successful candidate must have the ability to work both as a team member, and independently, be able to multi-task, change direction flexibly and work under strict deadlines. He or she must also convey a competent, professional demeanor when working with printers, corporate contacts and colleagues.
The workload averages 20 hours per week, most of which should be in person at the office, on a regular basis. Compensation is $30.00 per hour.
