Senior Human Resources GeneralistTracking Code295-142 Job DescriptionTower Group Companies is one of the 50 largest providers of property and casualty insurance products and services in the U.S. Through our insurance company subsidiaries, we provide personal and commercial insurance for small to medium-sized business through a dedicated network of independent retail and wholesale agencies. Tower also offers specialty insurance products through a national network of program underwriting agents.The Senior Human Resources Generalist serve as HR contact for Home Office and NY Metro region, handling employee relations, compensation and performance reviews. Partner with management to ensure all company policies and procedures are being followed by all personnel in assigned region.Required SkillsCommunicate company policies and procedures and ensure adherence. Counsel employees and coach management to ensure appropriate responses to violations of company policies and procedures. Build staff morale through day to day interaction with employees and appropriately address their needs. Recommend and plan events to show appreciation of employees. Assist management in identifying and resolving performance issues. Determine corrective action plans and ensure implementation. Orchestrate annual performance evaluation process including recommendation of compensation and approval and maintenance of documentation. Required ExperienceA background in insurance is required. Candidate must exercise good judgment and have the ability to make sound decisions. Must be able to effectively communicate ideas and make recommendations.Qualifications and Work Experience: Required are a minimum of 5 years experience in a generalist role, with emphasis on employee relations. Strong knowledge of employment laws a must. Education: College Degree Required.Licenses or Certifications: SPHR preferred but not required. Computer and Software: Strong working knowledge of Windows, Word and Outlook Express. Experience in Excel.
