    Founded in 1955, the Albert Einstein College of Medicine (Einstein) is one of the nation’s premier institutions for medical education, basic research and clinical investigation. A full-time faculty of some 2,000 conducts research, teaches, and delivers health care in every major biomedical specialty. The college has some 730 medical students, 193 Ph.D. students, 106 MD/Ph.D. students and 275 postdoctoral fellows.

    Einstein’s major strength, in addition to training physicians and scientists, is its science. During fiscal year 2015, the faculty’s consistently high level of scientific achievement resulted in the awarding of more than $150 million in peer-reviewed grants from the National Institutes of Health (NIH).

    Einstein is part of Montefiore Medicine Academic Health System, an integrated academic delivery system comprising seven campuses, including 8 hospitals, a multi-county ambulatory network, a new state-of-the art “hospital without beds”, a skilled nursing facility, school of nursing, home health agency, and the state’s first freestanding emergency department. As the University Hospital for the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Montefiore is a premier academic health system, employing Einstein’s clinical faculty and training Einstein’s medical students, over 1,300 residents, 420 allied health students, and 1,600 nursing students annually.

    POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

    The Director of Annual Giving will have fundamental responsibility and accountability for developing, refining, and driving annual giving across a wide-ranging donor pool in service to bringing in new donors and dollars, cultivating existing relationships, propelling moves management, and increasing revenue streams. S/he will focus on enhancing Montefiore & Einstein's capacity as a destination of choice for philanthropy across a diverse donor and prospective donor constituency. The Director of Annual Giving will report to the Senior Director of External Relations.

    Key Responsibilities Include

    • Create and oversee a comprehensive fundraising plan and appeal schedule for:
    • Donor solicitation series (print and digital)
    • Alumni solicitation series (print and digital)
    • Department-specific annual solicitations (print and digital)
    • Re-envision Giving Tuesday with anticipated year-over-year revenue growth
    • Envision and launch a Giving Day
    • Build culture for online giving
    • Establish crowdfunding opportunities
    • Improve data health as influenced by analytics
    • Prepare Annual Fund progress reports and updates
    • Maintain a small portfolio of prospects
    • Maintain Annul Giving web presence
    • Launch and run an Annual Giving Society and / or Loyalty Society, among other work in stewarding donors
    • Work with key internal and cross-departmental partners to enhance engagement, solicitation, and stewardship efforts
    • Track donor performance
    • Manage Annual Giving budget
    • Explore new strategies to maximize dollars and donors
    • Other duties as assigned

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Key Qualifications Include

    • Bachelor’s degree and at least eight years of experience, ideally gained in a sophisticated fundraising environment (i.e., one that has generated $10 million or more on a regular basis).
    • Highly motivated self-starter who is engaging, resilient and resourceful with the ability to work independently, as well as part of a team.
    • Excellent ability to set priorities, plan long-term, manage multiple projects simultaneously and perform in a fast paced environment to meet deadlines.
    • Detail oriented with a methodical approach to work.
    • Superb analytical thinking skills to be able to assess situations and react appropriately.
    • Superior verbal and written communication skills.
    • Understanding of business implications of decisions and ability to align work with strategic goals.
    • Skilled at relationship management, collaborating with colleagues across campuses, and encouraging and facilitating open communication.
    • Ability to liaise in a professional manner with all levels of staff, management, donors, and external contacts.
    • Willingness to work evenings and weekends as required.
    • Experience in working with Raiser's Edge or similar database highly desirable.
    • Highly skilled at MS Office Suite.
