Medical Office Assistant (MOA)

The Medical Office Assistant is assigned duties and responsibilities related to patient care in a team-based care and integrative health environment. The MOA functions under the supervision and delegation authority of the licensed provider, while performing clinical and other supporting patient care tasks. The MA must demonstrate competency in all skills related to the performance of patient care and demonstrate effective communication and problem solving skills. Additionally, the individual in this role is responsible for answering phones, scheduling appointments, handling physician correspondence, preparing patient charts for visits, contacting insurance companies for referrals and authorizations, assisting patients with various needs when not providing direct patient care clinical support. This position requires the ability to function in a multi-tasking environment. The MOA assists in the design and oversight of efficient patient flow and upholds an environment of patient safety and satisfaction.

REQUIREMENTS:

Level 1: High School diploma or equivalent. Associates degree or completion of an administrative program from an accredited school is preferred. A graduate of an accredited diploma or associates degree medical assisting program BCLS training and current certification required from: American Heart Association or American Red Cross.

Level 2: As above in Level 1 and current certification as a Medical Assistant.

Skills:

Excellent interpersonal skills and effective written and oral communication skills to enhance population specific service, team collaboration and analytical problem solving.

Microsoft Office Suite proficiency, Word, Excel, Outlook

Can multitask and work efficiently

Knowledge of medical terminology desirable

Able to use, maintain and troubleshoot office equipment

Knowledgeable within the scope of practice of an MA.

Skilled in the use of office equipment, electronic health records, confident phlebotomy skills.

Experience: Minimum of two years' experience as MA in a physician practice or ambulatory environment. One year experience in clinical reception preferred.
