Deputy Director, Corporate Partnership Development - Midwest Region (NYC-based)

Reporting to the Senior Director of Corporate Partnership Development, the Deputy Director will lead strategic partnerships supporting UNICEF and UNICEF USA.

Key Responsibilities/Outcomes (include but are not limited to):

  • Secure meetings, in conjunction with UNICEF USA staff and national/regional boards, build relationships with key prospect contacts, build strategic stewardship activities and lead new partnership discussions, including development of partnership propositions
  • Work closely with the Midwest Regional Director and Midwest Regional Board to leverage key contacts at priority corporate prospects in the region.
  • Work closely with UNICEF colleagues to ensure partnership terms are in compliance with UNICEF processes and guidelines.
  • Work closely with Private Fundraising and Partnerships (PFP) to map out global opportunities within the retail and consumer goods sector
  • Lead the negotiation of agreement terms and develop contracts
  • Ensure relationships are built at all levels of the company, but especially with key senior corporate contacts to help advance partnerships; map to appropriate UNICEF USA senior staff as needed
  • Collaborate with all UNICEF USA departments, including the Corporate Partnerships team, Marketing & Communications, Major Gifts, and with UNICEF to leverage all company assets in an effort to initiate innovative ideas and maximize opportunities
  • Collaborate with UNICEF USA departments, including Marketing & Communications, Administration, Finance, and Global Programs and Field Engagement.  Work closely with the Corporate Partnership Management team in order to ensure a smooth transition once contracts are signed
  • Lead prospect meetings in collaboration with key stakeholders, including UNICEF headquarters, National Committees and Country Offices, and other UNICEF USA departments

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 7 years of experience in partnership development or strategic partnerships; a mix of corporate and non-profit experience is preferred
  • Proven track record generating new revenue or successfully managing and growing strategic partnerships
  • Significant relationship building; ability to build relationships with individuals from diverse backgrounds and styles, and experience working with contacts at all levels at Fortune 500 companies
  • Comfort presenting to senior-level decision-makers and influencers across business units and functions, ranging from corporate  foundation contacts to marketing/PR contacts
  • Ability to juggle multiple prospects and negotiations with large, complex companies
  • Experience working with customer fundraising campaigns/marketing a plus
  • Ability to lead internal and external meetings
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with multiple and competing deadlines
  • Excellent problem solving and negotiation skills
  • Ability to effectively collect, analyze, organize, distill and present information
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to travel within the US and internationally
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially PowerPoint
  • Understanding and experience with the stages of partnership development, from qualifying, exploratory conversations, strategic proposal development, negotiations and contracting
